Scottish Country Dance Victoria
Welcome to 2026 and the Term 1 course for New Dancers at Trentwood at the Hub, North Balwyn, is up and running.
Port Phillip Dance Festival Easter 2026
Missed out? Want to try Scottish Country Dance or another traditional dance style? Something fun to do over Easter? The Victorian Folk Dance Club is holding its Port Phillip Dance Festival over Easter 2026. Scottish Country Dance is on for Good Friday with a workshop in the morning and dances with live music in the evening. See Facebook page for more details. It isn’t just Scottish Country Dance- there’s English Country Dance, Welsh Dance, Contra and folk with fun dances in the evening. All open to the public. Tickets via Humanitix More on Facebook page.
Our next free Come and Try Event is on February 21, 2026.
What will we be doing?
We will learn some of the famous ceilidh dances of Scotland and branch out into some easy set dances, the heart and soul of SCD.
We will be dancing ceilidh style, which means walking – no fancy steps.
It’s in North Balwyn, at the Greythorn Community Hub, just behind Doncaster Rd and the Greythorn Shopping Centre.
Ticketing via Trentwood at the Hub https://socialplanet.com.au/activity/view?id=44584 for the TryItOut Feb 21. Bookings are free and not absolutely essential but do help us to plan. There will be cake. And, possibly, balloons. We’ll see.
SCD is for fun. It is very sociable. It’s not a performance style of dance. We have to learn lots of new things and it gets brains and bodies moving.
This is not Highland Dance. No swords, no bagpipes and no Highland Fling. It is for all age groups but a reasonable level of fitness is required.
